Illinois Supreme Court rules that former district owes duty of care to provide hiring district with accurate employment information
In a 5-2 split, the Illinois Supreme Court has ruled that two students, who were sexually abused by a teacher, had stated a valid cause of action against the school district that previously employed that teacher based on its duty of care to the students to provide a second district with a factually accurate employment verification form.
